Gamma Piercing cannot pierce you if you are: taking the prescription drug Accutane, pregnant, or under the influence of alcohol or drugs. We also recommend not swimming for at least 4-6 weeks following any piercing procedure.
Before any procedure, the piercers at Gamma will consult with you about your individual anatomy. Our piercing staff may decline to perform certain piercings on you based on this anatomy consultation. It is very common that a client requesting a particular piercing does not possess the anatomy required to safely heal said piercing; we will do our best to suggest similar, alternative piercings that have a better chance of healing.
Frequently Asked Questions
My child wants their ear lobes pierced! How do I make that happen?
Thank you for considering us for your child’s first piercings! Please visit our dedicated Children’s Earlobes page for information on making this a positive, comfortable experience.
Can I bring jewelry I bought from somewhere else?
No. Gamma Piercing does not perform fresh piercings with jewelry purchased from outside our studio. This policy exists to maintain our strict jewelry material and construction requirements, to maintain our piercers’ membership in the Association of Professional Piercers, and to ensure the safety of our clients. We will insert jewelry from elsewhere into a healed piercing, as long as it will fit comfortably, is made of a safe material, and can withstand a sterilization cycle without sustaining damage.
Can I get pierced with previously-worn jewelry?
No. Previously-worn jewelry, even when disinfected and sterilized, presents additional risks during healing. Once worn, jewelry is covered in an impossible-to-remove biofilm that could lead to infection in a fresh piercing. Previously-worn jewelry is also likely to have nicks and scratches on the wearable surface which could harbor dangerous bacteria. We want to give you the best possible chance at healing your piercing safely, and in order to do that, we cannot pierce with previously-worn jewelry.
Can I bring friends/family with me into the piercing room?
Absolutely! This is your experience, and we want you to feel as happy and comfortable as possible. We understand the value of moral and emotional support, and we encourage you to bring as many or as few people with you as you’d like. As long as everyone in the room is able to maintain a calm, relaxing presence, we are happy to have them. We reserve the right to ask any individual or group to leave the piercing room if their presence is harmful, either to the client’s experience, or to the piercer’s ability to perform their duties. For procedures on minors, Gamma requires that a parent or legal guardian be present in the piercing room.
Can I request a specific piercer?
Yes. We are happy to schedule you an appointment with the piercer of your choice. If you would like to be pierced by a particular individual, you can select by staff on the booking site of the location you are booking for.
Do you take walk-ins?
Sometimes. We recommend making an appointment, as that ensures you will be seen, and allows us to budget our time easily throughout the day to help as many clients as possible. Appointments are our priority, so if you walk-in you may have a (sometimes substantial) wait. We value your time, and want to help you as efficiently as possible. Appointment booking is available here.
What should I do if I’m running late for my appointment?
Please contact us via phone as soon as possible to let us know. If you are 10 minutes late, we will charge a “no-call/no-show” fee of $25. This policy exists to ensure that we do not fall behind on every subsequent appointment. You also have the option to reschedule your appointment for a more convenient day/time. There is no fee for rescheduling, provided we are given at least one hour notice.
